You know those places that are just magical, no matter the weather, no matter sunshine or clouds, these special locations just always seem to be bring out the best for photos? That is Davis Islands Beach for me. It honestly almost always has glowing light from the sun setting behind the sea grapes, no matter the time of year. It also has the sweetest little beach with sailboats behind the families, too. So, to me, that is always a bit more magical. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Gulf of Mexico, but this little spot tends to work great if you don’t want to drive that far, or just don’t want to walk too long on the beach either! This family is also pretty magical and special too. They have trusted me for a few years now with the extra bonus of film at their mini-sessions. That means they get a little extra time and a whole roll of film to play with and keep the digitals of at the end as well. Davis Islands and film are also a perfect match like peanut butter and jelly!

This family also picked the perfect wardrobe for the location, too. Neutrals always look good at Davis Islands - just look at my last blog post, too. They extended the neutrals and brought a little color in the blue tones. It was done timelessly. The blues almost become a neutral color this way. Again, you can see how everone’s different fabric textures really add to the wardrobe instead of just having all the same plain cotton fabrics. The clothing is made up of textures of all kinds! Everyon can still move and play but also look so good together without being too matchy!

Starting with the film, here are a few of my favorites. These were all done on Kodak Portra400, my film stock of choice for families on film. If you love the classic feel of film, ask me how to add a roll to your next session or mini-session!

Sometimes you get boo-boo’s at a session. I don’t usually stop photographing unless that is causing an issue, so here this little one got poked in the eye by her brother on accident, and the moments of tenderness were those parenting moments we don’t often get to document while we comfort our babies, so these are really special to me as a parent to be able to document for other parents.

Now onto, more fun and the digital photo favorites from this Davis Island family beach photo session.
