I have had countless trips to the beach this past month and I am not one bit mad at all! Honestly, when the red tide started showing up again very early on in spring, I was worried. I had booked a ton of family beach photo sessions, particularly families vacationing in the St. Petersburg and Indian Rocks Beach areas. Thankfully, most of the beaches have been fine and no real red tide issues to speak up thus far. The worst location this year has been Anna Maria Island and that cleared up super quickly, to! I am keeping everything crossed through because the rest of April is still packed wiht vacation family pictures in and around Indian Rock Beach and beyond!

This family was vacationing from Minnesota and while the sunshine only showed up for a brief few minutes as the sun set, I will never tire of moody beach skies either. Each family session at the beach is so unique because you never know what the weather will do. Plus, each family brings different styles of wardrobe and that can also impact the look and feel of your family photos on the beach, too. This one with tones of blues was perfect with the moody skies! This session also is a good reminder to families who book vacation photos, your kids may be tired, they may be out of sorts from a new space, and traveling, and more sun than they are used to. However, even on your kiddos toughest of days, we can create magical photo memories. I won’t say which kiddo was the most exhausted and hardest nut to crack, but with the photos they print from this session, I hope they only rember the beautiful memories and then also give that kiddo a bit of grief when they are older and may end up the easiest to photograph the next time around! Being able to go with the flow, play in photos, and just let kids warm up on their own time makes the beautiful family photos we ended up documenting all that more rewarding in the end, too!

If you are heading to Florida this year, I am taking bookings from July 2023 and beyond at this time! If you are local and looking for fall family photos, my fall schedule will go out in August, when school starts. However, keep in mind, mini-sessions are not generally set up at the Gulf of Mexico, unless you are doing a film hybrid session, so if you really want a beach family photo session you may want to get on my full family photo session early!

My favorite way to end a session, getting a little splash time!
