Meet baby D! She is about as cute as can be and her parents are adorable, too, right? This session got moved from early storms in September to October. I am so glad we stuck it out to do this outdoor baby photo session during the season of holiday photos and set up a weekday session at Davis Island Beach. The waiting was worth it. The light was pure magic. Her smile melted my heart and I can tell it melted her parents heart a bit more too. Sessions like this take a bit more logistical planning with babies outside, the conditions have to be right. Not too hot, not too cold, and then feeding at the right time comes into play with bubs, too. But, if I am being honest, that is important, no matter the age. Even for forty something moms. Its me. I need to be fed to be happy at my photo session, too!

I absolutely adore this mama’s dress. The simple neutral pattern photographed so lovely against the greenery and bright and happy sunshine. Keeping baby in a onesie that isn’t too fussy is perfect, too. The more adjusting you have to do, the less photos we have to choose from, so a onesie is perfect. Straps, items that have to stay tucked, or bloomers to be covered can get tiresome adjusting for parents especially if you want smiling happy babies, too. Dad’s shirt was simple and didn’t cause the moire effect that so many men’s button down small pattern or small texture shirts can do. So if you are looking for dad outfits, this relaxed but still polished outfit is great!

Davis Island Beach is a great Tampa photo spot. It can be very busy on the tiny beach at sunset. Which is awesome because who doesn’t love a city beach escape, even on a week night. My favorite spots at this location are actually off the beach. As you can see from this session. The light is too magical not to use the sea grapes for that glowy bokeh, right? If we have older kids finishing up at the beach is great, too. But, sometimes little babies can’t last that long, so we don’t push it if we don’t have to! This is one of those cases when baby was ready to eat and we just called it knowing we had so many happy and smiley and authentically beautiful family moments already.

If you are in South Tampa looking for a photographer or simple weekday photo location, I can’t recommend Davis Island Beach enough. It requires a simple photo permit that I take care of, too. Sometimes the weekends are a bit busier, so it is not a favorite for weekends but I have lots of other South Tampa photo location recommendations if you are looking for a family photo session or outdoor baby session this coming spring!
